Ghana
Ghana, located in West Africa along the Atlantic Ocean, shares its borders with Togo, Burkina Faso, and Côte d’Ivoire. The country’s name means “Warrior King,” a reference to the medieval Ghana Empire. Ghana gained independence from the United Kingdom in 1957 and is a member of the African Union and ECOWAS. It is the world’s second-largest producer of cocoa, while Lake Volta—created in 1965—stands as the largest man-made reservoir. The best time to visit is during the dry season, from November to March.
