Indonesia, located in Southeast Asia and Oceania, is the world’s largest archipelagic nation, made up of 17,000 islands. Its capital, Jakarta, will soon be replaced by Nusantara. Home to over 275 million people, it ranks as the fourth most populous country on the planet. Java, the most densely populated island, is home to half of the country’s residents. Indonesia boasts remarkable ethnic and linguistic diversity, while its economy is among the largest globally. The best time to visit is during the dry season, from May to September.
