Bilbao
Bilbao, in the Basque Country in northern Spain, sits where the Nervión river flows into the Bay of Biscay. The city has a population of around 346 thousand and forms the Greater Bilbao metropolitan area together with the surrounding towns. Known for the Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao also offers a picturesque old town and a rich Basque culture. Its subtropical oceanic climate brings mild winters (14 °C) and moderately warm summers (26 °C). The best time to visit is spring and early autumn, when the weather is pleasant.
