Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport has been operating since 2001. It is the largest airport in Greece and the main air hub for many Greek carriers. The airport is located 33 km southeast of the city center and 45 km from the port of Piraeus. The airport serves airlines such as Ryanair, Wizz Air, Air Canada, Air France or Aegean Airlines. The airport has two terminals: the main (consists of 3 levels) and satellite (has 2 levels). The name of the airport is associated with the well-known Greek politician, Eleftherios Venizelos, who was the prime minister for eight times. The IAT code of the airport is ATH. The nearest hotel – Sofitel Athens Airport – is located right next to the terminal building.

Metro is the fastest way to reach the airport (about 40 minutes). It's worth remembering that group tickets are a cheaper solution, and children under the age of 6 travel for free.
Traveling with the line number 3 (the blue one), you reach the Syntagma or Monastiraki station. The suburban railway connects the airport with from the railway station in Athens.
There are 4 bus lines that run from the airport: E94, E95, E96, X95 (the bus station between the 4th and the 5th entrance, next to the arrivals hall of the main terminal). Thanks to them, you can reach, among others, Athens (about 65 minutes) or Piraeus (about 90 minutes).
There are also 5 KTEL Express Service regional bus lines ( the bus stop opposite the Sofitel hotel). Thanks to them you can reach places like Rafina, Keratea or Markopoulo and others.
In the case of using a taxi, the price of the route from the airport to the center of Athens depends on the time of day. During the day (from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m.) the ride costs EUR 38, and during the night the price increases to EUR 54.
Passengers who decide to travel by car can use the paid highway Attiki Odos or choose free roads with the route along Alei Laurio. Travel time is between 40 and 60 minutes.
The airport in Athens has two short-term car parks and one long-term car park.
Short-term car parks P1 and P2 (in total, more than 1,300 parking spaces) are located behind the main terminal building. Travelers can book a parking space earlier, using the e-Parking card on the official website of the airport (it's related to an additional discount).
The use of a short-term parking for up to 20 minutes is free. People with electric cars can charge the vehicle without additional fees in the P2 car park. The P1 car park has a separate space for motorcycles.
Long-term car park P3 is located near the main access road to the airport ( Attiki Odos Motorway). There are more than 5,800 parking spaces. The route from the car park to the airport can be taken on foot, walking along the bridge (about 5 minutes) or you can use the free bus transport.
Information – the information point is located in the main terminal near the arrivals hall.
Disable passengers – the airport has facilities for the disabled, including properly adapted toilets, sidewalks, and elevators, as well as a separate zone for parking places for the disabled.
Finances - in the main terminal there are two banks and a currency exchange office, passengers can use machines for exchanging money and ATMs.
Gastronomy – there are many restaurants and cafes at the airport. Most of them are in the main terminal.
Shopping – travelers can buy in many stores of different brands, including the duty-free area. There is also a mini market in the main terminal.
Car rental – car rental offices are located in the main terminal, near the arrivals hall.
Taxi rank – the taxi rank is outside the main terminal, between the 3rd and 4th entrance.
Internet – at the airport you can use free WiFi.
In the main terminal, there are, among others post office, first aid point, separate space for children and business rooms.
